Grazing with the Goats

Come have lunch with our summer work crew!

Welty’s bringing 70 goats to the Big Hill Prairie to graze invasives so it can become an Oak Savanna again.  Learn more about this all-natural process to clear land and restore ecosystems, while enjoying a hot dog or brat lunch at Big Hill Park.

We’re also celebrating the installation of 7 interpretive signs around Big Hill Park (paid for by Visit Beloit’s JET grant), so you can take a trail map and hike to learn about the history of this 94-year-old park.  There’s also a display of  the trail map and all the signs in the Center lobby, if you’d rather read and eat.
