Great Wisconsin Birdathon – June 14th, 9:00-11:00 AM
Join us as we join Wisconsin’s largest fundraiser for bird conservation on June 14th, 2023, from 9-11 AM! We will be teaming up with birders from across the state as we explore the miles of trails at Big Hill Park, searching for any and all birds. We will learn about the unique calls of field sparrows and Baltimore orioles in the prairie, American redstarts and rose-breasted grosbeaks in the forest, and bald eagles and wood ducks in the wetland zones!
All observations will be logged into eBird with a short tutorial at the beginning of the hike for those participants who are interested. This hike is open to all ages and skill levels. Trail terrain will range from easy to moderately difficult, so dress accordingly. This event will occur unless there are adverse weather conditions (e.g., lightning, heavy rain). Attendance is free, but donations are appreciated. Binoculars will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, thanks to a generous donation from the Wisconsin Society of Ornithology. Complimentary coffee and doughnuts will be available for attendees, courtesy of the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education (WAEE).
