NATC Prairie Trail Running

There are many ways to get outside and enjoy the natural trappings of South Beloit, IL. One such way is Trail Running. Running park trails is a perfect low-ecological impact way that provides a great work out while taking in the natural world around us.

Please join us on August 11th at 4:00 pm to learn about prairie ecology, Nature at the Confluence’s prairie restoration efforts, trail running techniques by local runner Paul Dionne, culminating in a 5K (roughly) trail run.

  • All level of runner welcome. This lead run will have exit points looping back to the center and will include paved bike paths and side walks near the center.

Runner Bio:

Paul Dionne is an accomplished runner, with podium finishes ranging from 5K to 100 mile distances (yes, he once ran 100 miles in a day!). A 2:55 marathoner, Paul has run the Boston Marathon two times and 20 trail ultramarathons (50K and longer) with six wins. An avid trail runner, Paul runs mostly on dirt and enjoys both solo and group runs among the trees and prairies surrounding Beloit, with a special appreciation for the Ice Age Trail meandering through Kettle Moraine State Forest. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Paul came into running later in life, demonstrating that it is never too late to discover new ways to enjoy the outdoors.
