The Welty Environmental Center (WEC) is a non-profit educational organization, dedicated to providing the Wisconsin-Illinois stateline area with experiences in nature, leadership opportunities and thoughtful consideration of environmental issues for children, families and adults. Over the last year, the WEC provided educational experiences for almost 9,000 people, including students from 30 different schools

FTE:  0.63 (25Hours/Week)
Pay: $13.00 to $15.00 based on relevant experience
Time: Flexible schedule varies based on program needs. Weekends and Evenings required.

Department: Programs
Department Description:The Programs Department creates and delivers engaging outdoor recreational activities and hands-on science based field trips for pre-K through 12 students and adults in the Stateline Area and surrounding counties. It partners with the City of Beloit on Big Hill Adventure Camp for ages 5 through 12 during the months of June, July, and August.

Center Description:
The Welty Environmental Center is located in the 190-acre Big Hill Park in Beloit. The center partners with area schools and organizations bringing more than 9,000 people annually to the park. The park features three primary biomes of prairie-oak savannah, Deciduous Forest, and River Front.

Position Summary: The Environmental Educator is responsible for the 12-weeks of summer camp, including curriculum creation and delivery. Onsite and virtual afterschool programming. Weekend and Evening Programming, planning and executing two weekend programs a month. Assisting with educational events and field trips. Assist with Annual Appeal, grant-writing, donor database (Airtable), fundraiser bookkeeping.

Required Qualifications:
– College degree
– Able to work independently and in collaborative situations
– Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills
– Reliable Transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

– Summer Camp Experience
– Experience in the environmental and educational fields
– Strong background in ecological and earth sciences, and teaching
– Loves working with people of all ages and being outdoors
– Good program planning and program development skills
– Passion for environmental education and conservation
– Financial, marketing and public relations skills useful

Terms of Employment: This is a part-time at-will position. A position review will be given by the immediate supervisor after a 60-day probationary period
