Nature Net Express Grant Offers $300 for Teachers

There is a new opportunity that Stateline area teachers can take advantage of: The Nature Net Express Grant.

From the website: Nature Net aims to support your efforts to include outdoor, nature, and environmental education in your curricula with The New Nature Express grant program, which supports all kinds of nature learning experiences remote and in-person. It is designed to remove barriers and support your creative ideas with up to $300 in funding

Welty is a proud member of Nature Net, a non-profit environmental learning network, whose goal is to increase access and promote collaboration in environmental education. It has 19 partners, all located in southern Wisconsin. Members include many field trips destinations for Rock county schools, including: the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, Henry Vilas Zoo, Olbrich Gardens, and the Madison Children’s Museum.

Outside funding subsidized our insect adaptations field trip for Merrill 3rd graders (on left)… Nature Net’s Express Grant could help fund similar programs!

This is a great opportunity to augment your lesson plans with nature-based topics…

The process is simple and clear. There is a short webform application. Nature Net hopes to approve most projects. The follow up reporting is a simple submission of expenses. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. The grant would easily pay for the Welty Environmental Center to build kits and deliver distance learning to your classroom.

… and cover the expense with grant funding!

Welty has been lucky to receive grants from DuPont, Ecolab, the Hendricks Family Foundation, the Stateline Community Foundation, and the Rock County Conservationists to support distance learning. These grants have subsidized Stateline-area school programs on forest ecology, insect adaptations (above), animal tracking, Wisconsin wolves, and maple sugar. We greatly appreciate the support from these grants.

Do you have a new unit approaching or want to reinforce learning? This is a great opportunity to augment your lesson plans with nature-based topics, and cover the expense with grant funding.  Send us an inquiry at info@weltycenter.org to see what is possible. We can quickly build you a quote to use for the grant process.  Good luck and let us know if you have any questions!
