Food for the Brood – Bird Feeding Workshop
Is winter getting to be too long for your taste? Imagine how it is for the birds!
At this workshop we will go over basic identification tips you can use from your window to tell which bird is which.
We’ll also go over what feed attracts which birds, and make a simple feeder or two. Please bring an empty 2L plastic bottle.

Candlelight Hike – Ski – Snowshoe
Enjoy a romantic evening in the park by candlelight. The Rock County Parks Department will be bringing snowshoes for use that evening, and you are welcome to bring your own snowshoes, cross country skis or other equipment appropriate for the weather.
We will have a campfire with make-your-own s’mores and hot dogs available. Other refreshments include chili – both a meat and vegetarian version, homemade cookies, and hot chocolate. Bring your sweetheart, friends, the whole family, or just yourself and enjoy a beautiful night in the woods. The event will only be cancelled if there is high winds. Please call ahead if the conditions look iffy.

Teen Volunteer Naturalist Training
Are you between the ages of 13 and 17 years, love being outside and working with kids, and looking for a place to grow your talents? The Welty Environmental Center needs you!
You may need to complete a certain amount of service hours for graduation, so why not enjoy the experience.
Come to this training to get the basics of working outdoors and with children, and have a chance to have a say in this summer’s programming. All activities will be hands on and outdoors as much as possible, so dress accordingly. Bring a friend if you like. All participants will need to bring a lunch, but snacks are provided.

Maple Surgaring Mania
Enjoy an afternoon in the sugar grove learning about how maple syrup is made – from the tree to the table.
This hands-on session will look at the biology of maple trees, the history of maple sugaring, and the science and art of cooking sap into syrup. Of course, participants will all get to sample the real maple syrup!
This program is perfect for scouts, homeschool associations, other youth groups, or other adult groups.
Call to reserve your time early.
Cost: $5 per person
