Welty Weekends this Fall

As the days start to cool down and the leaves start to change color, there is nothing better than a weekend hike around Big Hill Park to enjoy the beginning of fall. This year, you can also stop by Big Hill Center in the afternoons (1-4pm) to visit Welty for exhibits, experiments, and other nature-based fun.

Oliver and Abbie will be your hosts at Welty Weekends, Sat. and Sundays 1-4pm.

Stop by Big Hill Center in the afternoons (1-4pm)…

Our traveling exhibit “Real People, Real Climate, Real Changes,” is on display for all ages with information and interactives on the effects of climate change and ways to mitigate it.  For the younger set (5-12 yrs, but all are welcome) we have fun in the program room, with storytime at 1, and a new theme each week:

  • September 24 & 25 – Wind & Tornadoes
  • October 1 & 2 – Changing Seasons
  • October 8 & 9 – Precipitation
  • October 15 & 16 – Water Cycle
  • October 22 & 23 – Insect Rubbings
  • October 29 & 30 – Bird Watching & Migration
  • November 5 & 6 – Acorns & Pine Cones
  • November 12 & 13 – Turtles
  • November 19 & 20 – Fish Prints

…to visit Welty for exhibits, experiments, and other nature-based fun!

Drop in when it’s convenient; we ask that caregivers stay with their children during the visit. We look forward to seeing you around the park and at the Center!
