Welty Weeknight Paddles–a solution for your summer fun!
What’s stopping you from heading out for a paddle this summer–lack of equipment? Inexperience? You don’t want to paddle alone? We have a solution for you: Welty Weeknight Paddles!
Two times a month, all summer long, we are hosting Tuesday night paddles at the Beloit College Buccaneer Boathouse; June 28, July 12 and 26, August 16 and 30 from 5:30-7pm. They provide everything, you just need to show up!

Riverside Drive in Beloit) is a great resource and open weekdays from 4-7pm for the general public to use their equipment. Welty is happy to partner on the above dates, and we will have folks there to keep you company, offer suggestions, and help launch you into the Rock River. The Boathouse has single kayaks, aluminum canoes, and even a few paddle boards. Their staff will set you up with a life preserver, paddles and water craft, and have an easy-access dock for your put-in.

We saw a variety of waterfowl, including a graceful heron who allowed us to approach, but took off when we fumbled for a camera. Tunes floated across the river from The Rock, and even though the temperatures were in the 90s, it was comfortable on the water. It’s a great way to view Beloit, from its main waterway!
We will be there, unless the weather is crummy, but we will post on social media and email if we decide to cancel. Please pre-register, so we know who to expect. Participants are asked to sign College and Welty waivers; there is no lifeguard, so you paddle at your own risk.
We hope to see you soon…you paddle problems are solved!
